THE LORE OF HISTORY

Shazam, originally went under the name Captain Marvel, when he first got published by Fawcett Comics. He made his debut in 1939. The character was created by C.C. Beck & Bill Parker in December 1939 in Whiz Comics #2. Fawcett eventually was sold off to DC Comics and Captain Marvel officially made the jump to DC Comics in 1972. When Billy Batson and family made the jump to DC, he dropped the office of Captain Marvel due to trademark’s owned by rival Marvel Comics; Batson eventually became Shazam! One of the strongest factors of the movie is how much history they are able to pay homage to in its brief two hour run time.

HEART & HUMOR

Shazam is a character which you may or may not know about. To some, he’s known because of his rivalry with Black Adam. To others, he’s a variation on the Superman character. Though, it’s those elements that make Shazam! such a refreshing cinematic experience. You don’t know what to expect. That is only continued when you start to see how much depth this film truly has. Thanks to the heart and humor of the film - Shazam truly does become a film worth the revisit time and time again. This definitely has the makings of a classic.
