EPISODE 186: Captain Marvel

IN THIS EPISODE…

Welcome to another adventure within the multiverse! For this episode, we are going higher, further and fastest than we ever have before - we’re talking about the latest entry into the MCU, Captain Marvel. We’re joined by our resident movie man, Dan Rockwood, and Beggars front man, Cory O’ Carroll. Beggars is a Florida based band who's music has previously been heard on our The Incredibles II episode. Cory joins us to talk about the movie, music, suicide prevention and ro-coms - of all things.

IN STAN WE TRUST…

The MCU movies have always had a signature opening. A montage of cinematic moments that have become iconic in the last 11 years. Captain Marvel does away with that signature series of montages in exchange for Stan Lee’s cameos. Quickly fading to a black screen thanking Stan Lee for his creation. Though, we have already covered Stan Lee’s legacy - this is the first MCU to be released since his passing last April. With the film opening up to honor Lee’s legacy, we only felt it appropriate to discuss our favorite Stan Lee moments.

UP, UP, AND AWAY!

Captain Marvel offers up a rather unique origin story. Entangled with a mystery of identity and a war story line with two beloved Marvel races - the Skrulls and Kree. Brie Larson leads the charge against the villainous Ben Mendelsohn. Other players in this film include the ever talented Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson, and the ever scene-stealing Goose the Cat. Beyond just being an origin story, Marvel is filled with awesome action, an amazing soundtrack and so many 90s references. We’re jumping into all of it.
